What's up in the Neighborhood

The NeighborhoodAmong the topics in this most recent spin around the Capital Region's online neighborhood: the Post Office, the ER, a quick exit, the winners' circle, bathrooms, the Adirondacks, a basil thief, Katrinella's, Hatties's, Beekman Street Bistro, Yono's, the racino, booze and a groundhog.

The Bee Balm Gal is pissed at the Post Office -- and it sounds like she has good reason.

Albaniana after a trip to the ER: "The healthcare system in this country is bafflingly complex, even if you are insured to the hilt."

Sometimes Sebastien's urban exploration expeditions don't go exactly as planned.

Fun in Saratoga Dan's horse -- as in, he actually owns a share of the horse -- won at The Track!

Jess hiked up a mountain in the Adirondacks.

Kristi found out that people are really passionate about bathroom line etiquette.

Kate reports there's a basil thief in downtown Troy.

Jessica took brought pasta to Katrinella's.

Leah the Nosher's Hatties at The Track experience was better than her Shake Shack experience.

Silvia finally got to the Beekman Street Bistro -- and she says it was worth the wait.

Steve enjoyed an heirloom tomato BLT -- without bread -- at Yono's.

Albany Jen had blue corn fried calamari "that was out of this world" in Saratoga -- and then she and her mom ended up at the racino.

Daniel B's tale of Smalbany involves in booze.

Jerry was disappointed by the wings at the new Recovery Room in Colonie.

Bandit went hiking near New Paltz.

Jackie went turtle counting at the south end of Lake George.

Bennett checked out the Magnum photos exhibit at the Fenimore Art Museum in Cooperstown.

The Exiles came across an enormous moth -- in a parking lot.

Drew say Cirque de la Symphonie at SPAC.

Leah's groundhog has good taste.

Chuck entered some of his photos in a contest at the Altamont Fair.

Matt loves trees -- and he loves Troy's Landscaping in Cohoes.

A stranger turned Rebecca's whole week around.

And Naomi has completely de-cluttered.

Thanks for the link!

Thank you for linking to my post. The popularity of that one shocked me!

Umm, no offense to Kristi or AOA, but the link to Kristi's post seems gratuitous. Everything I found at that specific post (really just a baited comment thread; no authored post) is shallow. Shouldn't my "smart, savvy friend" direct me away from this sort of mall-culture noise, or at least say it's an especially interesting car wreck? The AOA filter kinda drops the ball on this one, IMO.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
