I just got my ticket. So far, including mine, four have been sold.

Maybe it's that the event is on a Thursday, or there are no "big name" speakers except maybe for James Howard Kunstler — but what gives? Is Albany just that lame?

We spoke with the organizer about a month ago -- he said they weren't going to start making the push to get the word out until September 1.

For what it's worth, it sounds like there could be some interesting speakers. The slate we saw was unconfirmed and still in flux.

how much are the tickets? Sounds like an interesting idea...

Hope you're right, Greg. The current lineup of Kunstler and two hacky motivational speakers is not very exciting.

The draw for me isn't just seeing the speakers, it's also meeting a bunch of local people who are eager to put down $30 and take a day off of work to go to an event like TEDx.

Since I'll never get together $6,000 to go to the main TED talks, this is as close as I'll get.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
