Rent-a-rower

Just the other day we were sitting around the office and saying, "You know, if only we had some college athletes around here to help out with a few things..." And then, serendipitously, this comes floating by: the RPI crew team's "Rent-a-Rower" fundraiser. (Thanks, Jessica R!)

This just made my day. Thus far, I've chosen to ignore the rainforest of weeds in my backyard. Now I can pay fundraising college athletes to weed and rake? Win.

It was really great working with them! I just told them how many people I needed, for how long, and what type of work would be done. I had 3 people show up, and this is what they did in less than 3 hours:

- Paint half a retaining wall
- Sand and paint an Adirondack chair
- Polyurethane the walking surface of a small deck
- Lay down plastic barrier over a small garden
- Trim 7 large hedges and remove all debris

It's $15 per person/per hour, and I threw them an extra $15, so it came to $150. Well worth it to have the help!

One of them said they are rasing money this year to buy a new 4-person boat.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
