Downtown Albany restaurant week

Just a quick heads-up: it's restaurant week in downtown Albany. Eighteen spots are offering three course meals for $20.10.

Does anyone know if any of these 18 restaurants supports/serves locally grown food?
I'm visiting Albany for 1 night this week and am looking for a spot to have a nice dinner (not too far from the airport b/c I'm taking a cab) and I definitely want to support a restaurant that supports local growers b/c I'm a traveling locavore!

Thanks folks! Looking forward to visiting your town.
Cheers!

@Angelle - From my experience, Brown Derby does support local growers. However, I don't think any of their menu items for Restaurant Week are particularly local. Also, downtown, while not too far from the airport is not too close either.

I wish I had a suggestion for you that was closer to the airport and supported local food but, most restaurants within a 3-5 mile radius are chains.

As far as local on the menu for restaurant week goes, I have thrown my endorsement to Jack's. You can read all about it on the link below.

But in summary, Jack's is offering a salad with local goat cheese, a locally (and sustainably) farmed fish entree, and an apple dessert which isn't explicitly stated as local. But the odds are that at this time of year the apples are at least regional.

Chef Larry has deep relationships with farmers, and it's one of the reasons I'm excited about the changes he's brought to The Brown Derby. Their restaurant week menu is also among the top few of the bunch. But as was previously stated, there isn't anything explicitly local on his restaurant week menu. All the same, I bet some of the ingredients are locally sourced.

Have a good trip.

I can second Daniel's comments about Jack's Oyster House. The caveat here is that they are a client of mine, but that doesn't change the fact that a significant number of their herbs, vegetables, and meats are locally sourced, not to mention the Local Ocean seafood Daniel highlighted.

Happy dining wherever you wind up.
