Shows. With music. That are soon.

we are scientists two shot

Those guys look awfully familiar.

There are bunch of shows coming up that could be fun/look interesting: indie rock, a cappella, girl group pop, alt country.

Here are a few you might keep in mind when organizing your calendar of music show going...

October 8: Sonos at The Linda
An a cappella group that covers artists such as Radiohead, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes and the Jackson 5.

October 11: Cymbals Eat Guitars at Valentines
with Sgt Dunbar and If Madrid
Indie rock from New York City... but not Brooklyn. Where then? Staten Island. Really. And Pitchfork raved.

October 13: We are Scientists at Valentines
with Alta Mira
It's like We are Scientists can't stay away from the Capital Region. They played Pearpalooza this summer and now they're back.

October 14: Dan Deacon Ensemble at Northern Lights
with Lightning Bolt
Deacon apparently put on quite the show earlier this year at EMPAC.

October 17: Ryan Bingham at The Linda
with The Rustlanders
He won an Oscar for the theme song for the film Crazy Heart (you know, the one with Jeff Bridges).

October 25: Frankie Rose and the Outs at Valentine's
Dreamy, kind of spacey girl group pop.

October 27: OK Go at Northern Lights
with Those Darlins and Eytan & The Embassy
Another band that just can't seem to get enough of the Capital Region. Or maybe it's the other way around. Whatever, maybe they'll bring the dogs. If you go, make sure to get there earlier to catch Those Darlins.

October 29: Annual Halloween Spectacular at Valentine's
Featuring locals Beware! The Other Head of Science, Sea of Trees, Around the World and Back, Sgt Dunbar

November 9: Wreckless Eric and Amy Rigby at Valentine's
Two artists who have been kicking around for a while. Now they're kicking around together.

By the way: The Rodrigo y Gabriela show at The Egg on October 12 has been canceled.

Ghoul Poon is opening the Dan Deacon / Lightning Bolt show too! And these days he's backed by Mike & Nico of Severe Severe! It's gonna be an awesome show!

Wow! A rare AOA local music post without Phantogram plastered all over it.

RAT A TAT at Northern Lights on November 27th.

The Bad Plus, Skidmore's Zankel Music Center, 11/4. Tix on sale 10/11.

Lightning Bolt!!! At Northern Lights? Wowza, strange band in a strange venue.

Clarification on Dylan's comment... An event called 'Rat-A-Tat (5)' is being held at Northern Lights, not the awesome electronic/rock duo named Ratatat :(

I AM DISSAPOINT

Also, correction for the post: OK Go plays Northern Lights on the 27th (which I can't make) and not the 17th (which I could have made)

AGAIN, I AM DISSAPOINT :(

Editors: Thanks for catching that. Fixed.

GWAR on 15-Oct at Northern Lights. Expect pig guts.

Please don't drive to Moe. You can't parallel park worth a darn. :)

Yeah, i though I remembered seeing something about Ratatat playing somewhere else. So that's what I've been so incorrectly excited about.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
