Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings at the Egg

sharon jones dap kingsThis should be funky: soul band Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings are coming to The Egg January 22 (it's not posted on the website yet). Tickets go on sale to the general public next Wednesday. They start at $30.

SJ and the Dap Kings play soul music that sounds like it's straight out of 1970 (that's good). Here's a show they played earlier this year at The Newport Folk Festival and a set from this year's SXSW.

Even if you've never heard of the Dap Kings -- you've probably heard them. They were the backing band on many of the tracks on Amy Winehouse's Back to Black album, including "You Know I'm No Good" and "Rehab."

This week: The Max Weinberg Big Band will be at Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Friday night. Tickets are $48. Weinberg recently explained why he isn't joining Conan O'Brien's new show on TBS.

She also sang backup for Phish's cover of Exile on Main St last Halloween at Indio!

Saw them at an absolutely packed outdoor show in Brooklyn (est. 20,000 people) and they were incredible. The crowd was too much though. This should be an awesome show.

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
