Golden era of semi-homemade dinner parties and cocktail hours on hold

Alas. She won't be here to "usher in a golden age of dinner parties and cocktail hours" in our fair capital. There will be no tomato soup lasagna. And local bartenders, note: you can scale back the ordering of appletini supplies.

We're still holding out hope for great garnishes, though.

Outrageous! From that WSJ article:

While state ethics bodies have addressed issues regarding spouses, such as the usage of state aircraft, questions concerning romantic companions have rarely arisen. Under state law, lobbyists are prohibited from giving gifts to spouses of public officials; the law doesn't prevent them from buying presents for girlfriends or boyfriends.
