Upstate gone very bad

Farther afield: Businessweek has an interesting article about the plight of the City of Niagara Falls, "one of America's most infamous victims of urban decay, hollowed out by four decades of job loss, mafia infiltration, political corruption, and failed get-fixed-quick schemes." Meanwhile: Buffalo was recently ranked #2 on a list of best cities to which to relocate.

Buffalo was ranked #1 on the list of best places to go to to die. :p

Obviously, there was a lack of communication between the two 'weeks' or a drastic time warp between the cities that are all of 45 minutes away from each other...

Leah...the south bronx is 45 minutes from the West Village...

Buffalo is one of those odd upstate cities that is secretly part of the midwest. I actually had someone STOP their car to allow me to use the crosswalk. I wasn't sure if proper protocol was to wave with a smile or run for my life.
