Tightening its belt

Jeans offered by the OGS.New York state may not yet have lost its shirt, but it has put the pants up for sale.

The New York state Office of General Services, which sells surplus state property on eBay as nyssurplus-albany, is offering fifteen pairs of new blue jeans for a current bid of $21.50.

The pants must be picked up at the Southport Correctional Facility in Chemung County. It's a bit of a drive. But you'd be paying only $1.44 per pair, or seventy-two cents a leg -- low enough that if you're feeling generous, you could consider tossing in a few extra pennies for the state's coffers. Or not.

In either case, the OGS asks that you bring payment directly to their office, not to the prison.

One other catch: The jeans are all in size 50. So if holiday overindulgence has left you a little bloated, you'll be all set.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
