Dove & Hudson

Daniel Nester reported yesterday that the much-admired Dove & Hudson bookstore in Albany's Center Square neighborhood will now be closed the first seven days of each month for "semi-retirement." Chris Churchill reports that store owner Dan Wedge isn't planning to close up the store -- he's just looking for a break.

Good to know -- it would be really sad day if Dove & Hudson closed. I've been slowly stocking a great library of photobooks thanks to them. Plus, where would I get my purple dollars??

Actually this isn't a bad news, according to the owner. He told me about it about a month ago, and mentioned this would give him more time to find new, interesting books for example.

best bookstore ever.

It would seriously be the darkest day ever if they closed for good. When I first read this I thought, "wonder if they'd consider hiring or taking on a volunteer?"

That's how much I need this bookstore to continue to exist.

Dan is a real professional with an excellet taste for old books. I love his store and keep many books I purchased there. Sorry I live so far, not to be able to shop there any more. Keep that store going, it is a part of good Albany heritage! L.Kostron, Brno, Czech republic

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
