Party like it's 1980something

On eBay this week:

"Let's Have a Party, Albany!" A 45 RPM record produced by PYX-106 in 1986. Yes, the same song from the "We are the World"-style video from the tricentennial (embedded above).

A vintage QE2 T-shirt (QE2 was a club in the building where the Fuze Box is now)

A 1988 Albany Academy for Girls commencement dance shot glass

We feel a retro costume party calling our names...

Call me when you see a J.B. Scott's T-shirt.

Thanks AOA for posting this gem. My 1st grade teacher used to play this song everyday after lunch and the whole class would sing it. I've never got the song out of my head and over the years I've continually brought it up but no one ever seemed to remember it. THANKS!

That was so bad it was good.

I think I still have an Albany Tricentennial t-shirt. (Whether it still fits, I dunno.)

"QE2 was a club..." Are there really people who don't know? I guess I'm officially old, then.

..and call me when you see a Frank's Living Room T-shirt. Mine wore out a while ago.

Hey bud's Dad was the singer/keyboard player in the Sharks! I see the family resemblance.

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

All Over Albany is for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. In other words, it's for you. It's kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who can help you find out what's up. Oh, and our friends call us AOA.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
