What's up in the Neighborhood

The NeighborhoodAmong the topics in this most recent spin around the Capital Region's online neighborhood: Chuck Schumer and Snooki, the economic impact of snow, shoveled sidewalks, Spanish, belly, Korean food, you pick two, ethnic markets, electronic cigarettes, and a fire tower.

Michelle notes that Chuck Schumer has something in common with Snooki.

Matt says the snow has been tough on local restaurants.

Mr. Slow Loris decided to incrementally change his neighborhood for the better by clearing un-shoveled sidewalks.

Silvia says the Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings show at The Egg was "smoking hot."

Kristi asked about places she could learn Spanish over the next few months.

Jerry cleaned his plate at the Wine Bar and Bistro on Lark.

Mr. Dave had a belly kind of night at Ala Shanghai.

Another thumbs for Lark Street Thai-Korean spot Kinnaree, this time from Steve.

Daniel B surveyed menus for Schenectady restaurant week.

C2C had an upscale "you pick two" at Marche.

It sounds like Rochelle was something less than impressed with Smith's Tavern in Vorheesville.

The Idiot is wishing an ethnic market would open in Saratoga.

Kevin's had it with the "electronic cigarette" sales guys at the mall.

Jackie visited the Woods Hollow Nature Preserve in Ballston Spa, which has a "great" sledding hill.

And Drew says the Spruce Mountain Fire Tower "should draw any Saratoga-area resident with an interest in the outdoors."

Hello! This weeks shoveling adventure went well. @dylanboyce, @kellyplace, and Goyasoda joined me, and @leahgolby did a similar thing in the Pine Hills neighborhood. Anyone with poorly maintained sidewalks in their neighborhood should do the same.

The Scoop

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
