Tuesday: More chance of snow. Blustery. Temps in the high 20s.
Wednesday: Sunny, but colder. Highs in the low 20s.
Thursday: About the same, but cloudier
Friday: Sunny is back. Highs still in the low 20s.
Weekend: Warmer. Highs in the 30s.

Eh.

Bookish

The New York State Writers Institute visiting writers series brings novelists Julie Orringer and Karen Russell to UAlbany on Thursday. Orringer is the author of The Invisible Bridge, one of 2010's notable books according to NYT. Russell's 2006 book of short stories, St. Lucy's Home for Girls Raised by Wolves, landed her a spot on many best-young-writers lists. She has a new novel, Swamplandia.

Design-ish

+ Michael Carrabetta -- the creative director of Chronicle Books, an "independent publisher of distinctive books" -- will be giving a talk at the Sage College's Albany campus Monday night.

+ An exhibit called "Graphic Design--Get the Message!" is now open at the Albany Institute of History and Art. From the blurbage:

Graphic Design--Get the Message! looks at graphic design from four themed areas: typography and early printing; commerce and graphic design; political and social messages; and the creative process. Through the use of posters, broadsides, package designs, paintings, decorative arts, historical photographs, and computer interactives, these four themes will address topics such as technology and innovation; manufacturing and commercial growth; changing aesthetics; typography; designers and the growth of the design profession; and social and political expression in graphic work.

How to, dinner for two

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
