Priorities, Priorities

The Daily News is reporting that Albany cops escorted a group of union reps out of Marché, inside 74 State, after the United Federation of Teachers' political and legislative director, Paul Egan, caused a stir over paying the bill. The issue? The quail he had eaten was too small.

Comments

Was he expecting the quail to be the center of his terducken?

Union official Paul Egan,
Whose culinary taste is not vegan,
Ordered a quail but was instead served a snail,
And was hauled out by Officer Keegan.

I got pretty mad when I read that. I just don't understand what gives people that sense of entitlement- the belief they can behave that way and treat people however they want.

um. it's a QUAIL for goodness sakes. Maybe Mr. "Creosote" Egan should consider The Old Country Buffet.

Way to go Bob!

The quail is too damn small!

and I'll go ahead and say: what we're all thinking: homeboy doesn't look like he's starving from lack of quail, or a lack of any other food item.

The Other Side:

Our patron ordered our quail,
And we served it well, without fail.
As manager of Marché, I complained of fowl play,
When our patron started to wail.

As an elected union representative (of another major union in NYS) I was embarrassed and infuriated by this story. The unions already look like "pigs at the trough" in the media and this union official should know better than to cause more bad press for the unions.

Also, for unionists to peevishly consider not tipping because of dissatisfaction with the food only stiffs the wait staff--the workers. Nice act of worker solidarity, Paul.

Also, if I were a member of his union, I'd be questioning this guy's expense account. Quail at Marche paid for by union dues?
