Praise, and a poster, for Rolf's

rolfs poster hawk krallRolf's, the German "pork store" in Albany, was recently featured in "Hot Dog of the Week" on foodie site Serious Eats. From the item by Hawk Krall:

The frankfurters (mild, beef and pork with natural casing) were cooked up later in an iron skillet and delicious in a bun with German mustard. The hot dogs were decent, not life-changing but up there with some of the best. But don't go to Rolf's just for the hot dogs--this is encased and smoked meat heaven. My only regret is not buying more to stash in the freezer.

Krall is also an illustrator and creates these great food posters. The image on the right is a thumbnail of the poster Krall created for the visit to Rolf's. Alas, it's not available in Krall's online store.

(Thanks, Jess!)

A friend of mine gets me teawurst there every Christmas. He is my best friend. Ever.

I sent you this as well. Great article.

@Jamel: Thanks for sending that along. For whatever reason, it didn't make through to this end. Sorry about that.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
