Red rover, red rover, she dares Nirav Shah over

A state senator is upset with a list compiled by the state Department of Health that deems games such as kickball, wiffle ball and red rover as posing "a significant risk of injury" -- and, as a result, community programs including them could be subject to stricter regulation. The DOH says the list is only meant as a guideline and the department hasn't started enforcing the rule yet. Update: The DOH says it's dropping the list. [NYDN] [TU] [NYDN]

The CYA maneuvering is getting a bit silly. ANY playtime is filled with potential peril: blowing soap bubbles might harm the environment, story telling might cause mental distress, sitting on the grass might stain your clothes.

Well there ya go. The most dysfunctional state government in the country has created the most mindless set of "guidelines" in history.

I am not surprised in the slightest.
