Unemployment rate down again
The Capital Region's unemployment rate was 6.8 percent last month, according the state labor department. That's down from 7.1 percent in April 2010. Even with that drop, the Capital Region actually had fewer jobs in April compared to a year ago. One possible explanation: people are retiring from public sector jobs and aren't being replaced. There were almost 30,000 unemployed people in the Capital Region last month. [NYS DOL] [NYS DOL] [TU]
