The Scoop
For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

The food is pretty good at Ommegang. The newly remodeled bar has a nice atmosphere. Try the frites!

Cooperstown is my favorite day trip, and I don't even like baseball that much. There's a neat little beverage trail that Ommegang is a part of that's worth checking out. The Fly Creek Cider Mill is part of the trail, and is a great place regardless of the season. Now is a great time of year to make the trip, too. The countryside is beautiful, and there's a new batch of baby animals at the Farmer's Museum to visit. And yes, there's always the Hall of Fame!

The folks at Cooperstown Brewery are very friendly, and their tour (of their super tiny place) is pretty darn informative. Ommegang looked like a nice place to have lunch, but the fella giving the tour was basically shouting his information, and it felt more amusement park-y (even though it's small) than Cooperstown Brewery, which was more "let's walk around a little and talk about beer, then drink it together." Both were fun though, and I'd definitely go back, and then hit the rest of the beverage trail (a few wineries and a cider place).
