One showing to rule them all

The Regal Cinema at Crossgates is showing the extended version of the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring tonight at 7 pm ("extended" in this case means "really looong"... this version is something close to 4 hours). The other films in the trilogy will be shown the next two Tuesdays.

I remember watching these extended editions when they first came out. They started at like 11pm or midnight and let out at like 3 or 4am. Totally awesome though. It's hard to watch the original cuts now -- they seem incomplete!

I love the movies, but that's a bit much (and on a Tuesday?). I usually watch each film over two nights, breaking at the intermission.

You're right, Erik, the abridged versions just aren't right.

SQUEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

[grabs phone]
"HI!!!! omg, what are you doing? like right. now.
...
oh. crap."
[kicks self for not visiting AOA earlier]

... but looks like I have plans for the next two Tuesdays! And I don't care who mocks me.

@Erik, it was Trilogy Tuesday!! The extended editions of the first two movies were shown at 6 and 9, and then the Return of the King debuted at midnight. Everyone in the audience got a collector's film cell set; I still have mine.

Yes, big dork.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
