What's up in the Neighborhood

The NeighborhoodAmong the topics in this most recent spin around the Capital Region's online neighborhood: the Pride Parade, rock climbing, pugs, the spa, Yaddo, beer at the Van Dyck, strawberries, lamb, croissants, giddy frugality, Regent Street, a moth, mulch, and Lodge's.

Bennett took a bunch of good people photos at the Pride Parade. Kevin was discourage to still see protests at the parade.

Jen faced her fears at Albany Indoor Rock Gym.

Crystal went to the annual Pug Parade in Colonie (yes, many photos).

Katelyn spent what sounds like a luxurious morning at the Roosevelt Spa in Saratoga.

Tim went for a warm photo walk at Yaddo.

Silvia enjoyed the new beer at the Van Dyck (her burger somewhat less so).

Jerry celebrated one year of Derry X (here's to many more!) with a trip to Gus's and the Snowman.

Ashallann picked strawberries with a view of Vroman's Nose. Albany Jane found "twee" strawberries at Indian Ladder.

The lamb burger at the Ginger Man occupies Emily's thoughts.

Albanian says the croissant she got from the Placid Baker in Troy was "the most delicious I've tasted this side of Paris."

Daniel B and Albany Jane persevered to judge 32 dishes at A Taste of the Capital Region.

One of Steve's readers asked about local brunch "hidden gems."

Mr. Dave went for the three chili peppers at Ala Shanghai.

Kristi's frugal side went giddy with the deals she found on high quality paper and envelopes at a place in Colonie Guilderland.

FiS Dan took a photo walk up Regent Street in Saratoga.

Jackie saved the most beautiful moth.

Rob and the catbirds have been spreading mulch.

And Chuck took a great "polablue" photo of Lodge's.

As always, thanks for the blog support, Mary and Greg... now let's hope this little photo of Lodge's can win an award or six...

Thanks guys! Cheers! *raises can of grape soda*

Hm, can I get a comment in before Chuck? I kid, I kid.

Not to flog my own horse too much but there's an interesting comment exchange at the end of my Pride post. I'm glad other folks followed the protestors and were able to report on their actions, I didn't see them at all after I initially took their photo.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

Albany tightened its rules for shoveling snowy sidewalks last winter -- so how'd that work out?
