The sunset summer

Buckingham pond sunset 2011-08-02

Buckingham Pond in uptown Albany.

For whatever reason, this summer seems like it's had a lot of good sunsets.

Maybe it's all the blue skies, sun, and fluffy clouds. It's like every time we look toward the west at dusk there's a scene that gives us the urge to pull out the iPhone and snap a pic (the modern world is nothing if not mediated).

There's should be a sunset forecast. "Tuesday: sunny, high in the mid-80s, 70 percent chance of a stand-and-watch-worthy sunset..." The weather people should really get on this.

Tuesday's sunset wasn't especially great -- we'd call it league average for this year. But we still appreciated it.

Buckingham was a favorite for years for my family when we still lived in Albany and my kids were in strollers. The sunset,
fountains, ducks, playground, occasional ice-cream truck. Many-a-photo like yours captured on my phone as well. Awesome memories. Thank you.

Hi, I recently moved back to Albany and I love photographing sunsets...where are some good spots in the area? Thanks so much in advance...Maria

We ended up going with Thirsty Owl (Thanks, Christina!). In addition to being in a nice, central location (and in a really beautiful building), their pricing, responsiveness, and flexibility sold us!
