Cat crisis
The Mohawk & Hudson River Humane Society says "in a crisis" because its at capacity for the number of cats it can hold -- and it's running out of options. Says Brad Shear, the org's director, in a statement: "We simply do not have any space to put even one more cat, but people are still bringing cats and kittens in. With the recent storm, adoptions have nearly come to a halt while people recover. We need the community to help by adopting." Today through Labor Day, cats older than 6 months are free -- younger than six months are $25.
Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

Do they have a fostering program for people who can't permanently adopt, but would like to help get them out of shelters? We got our dog from a woman who does this, and I would hope that people do it for cats too.

They DO have a foster program. We have been fostering cats for the last few years, and recently began fostering dogs. I know that they would love to have new foster homes! Send them an e-mail (fosters@mohawkhumane.org) and check out their information page http://www.mohawkhumanesociety.org/foster.html
