What's up in the Neighborhood

The NeighborhoodAmong the topics in this most recent spin around the Capital Region's online neighborhood: flooding, Troy on the rise, farms, home, distracting fungi, Amherst, a one-room schoolhouse, can you hear me now?, vegan brunch, burgers, and blue ribbons.

Bennett posted photos flooding photos from Albany's waterfront. Ned posted photos from Troy and Cohoes (including a remarkable photo of the Cohoes Falls).

Kevin saw Troy rising from the flood.

Daniel lamented the damage done to farms in the area. And Leah's heart ached for the people who own the farm that supplies her CSA.

Stephanie realized that Irene made the Capital Region feel like home.

Jackie took in some of the rushing water on the upper Hudson -- and found beautiful distractions in fungi.

Kim took a day trip to Amherst, Massachusetts.

Dawn came across a one-room schoolhouse in East Greenbush that's still being used.

Kristi would prefer that you step outside to talk on your phone.

Despite a weird experience, Cap2Cap came away from Little Anthony's very satisfied.

Rochelle came away disappointed from Lanthier's Grove in Latham.

Jen went for brunch at X's to O's in Troy.

Jerry had what sounds like a hit and miss experience at Creo.

Albany Jane got 10 pounds of pork belly at Adventure in Food.

Matt got "incredibly delicious" burgers at Route 66 Meats & Smokehouse in Wynantskill.

And Chuck was shocked at the State Fair. Maybe it was the llamas.

Much thanks and support, Greg and Mary - now I have to get ready and try for next year's competitions... hmm... ideas, ideas, ideas...

The school house is just outside of Troy in North Greenbush, not East.
