Albany police say they arrested a Green Island man early Sunday morning for allegedly stealing copper from a business at the Port of Albany -- while his 11-month-old daughter was left unattended in his car. (Full release after the jump.)

A Albany police officer caught a Green Island man in the Port of Albany stealing copper from a business while he left his 11 month old daughter in his unlocked car.
Michael Lemperle, 25, of 17 High Street, was caught just before 1:00 a.m. Sunday inside the fenced in lot of Capitol Bag and Waste.
Officer Joseph DeMarco was on patrol when he spotted Lemperle coming out of the lot, which is fenced in by a eight foot high fence. Lemperle had in his possession three copper-nickel radiators and five rolled lengths of solid copper wire.
Officer DeMarco also discovered Lemperle's 11 month old daughter inside his unlocked car. Lemperle left her in the car alone when he went inside the lot to steal the copper.
Lemperle was taken into custody and arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court Sunday morning. He was charged with Petit Larceny, Criminal Trespass 3rd and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
His daughter was turned over to her mother and Child Protection Services was notified.
