Bald eagle shot
The US Fish and Wildlife service is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever shot a juvenile bald eagle with a shotgun last week in northern Columbia County (map). (Bald eagles are protected by federal and state law. Also, shooting one makes you an enormous jerk.) The FWS says the eagle survived and was taken to an animal hospital in Slingerlands for treatment. Last year the state DEC reported eagle populations in the state are at a 30-year high. [via AP]

We've seen bald eagles near our house. It is quite a sight to see them soaring. Quite the comeback story.
And whomever shot him...you are a jerk.
