My Exit: Jessica Towne

Jessica Towne - My Exit.jpg

You might want to listen to tonight's My Exit in your car.

It's Monday, time for another My Exit. Here's tonight's guest DJ, who will be sharing her favorite music at 8 pm.

Here's more about her, and the musical road trip she's planned for you.

Who?
I'm Jessica Towne. I'm originally from southern Albany County, but I currently live in Delmar. I'm a freelance copywriter and owner of a vintage clothing store on Etsy.com.

How would you describe your taste in music?
As far as musical taste goes, mine is all over the place. My heart belongs to classic rock, but I can get down with a lot of 90s alternative, some hip-hop, and bluegrass-inspired stuff. My favorites bands are Jefferson Airplane, Bjork, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young.

A few songs from Jessica's My Exit show:

"Going Mobile" -- The Who
I love this song because it paints such a vivid picture of a road trip (which is the theme of my Exit show). Even the pacing of the song makes me feel like I'm in a fast car.

"Isis" -- Bob Dylan
I included this one because it's my favorite Dylan song ever. In true Dylan style, it tells a fantastic story that's also very Odyssean in nature.

"A Summer Wasting" -- Belle & Sebastian
To me, this song encapsulates the feeling of excitement I have at the start of each summer, when there is unlimited potential for fun. When I hear it, I'm also reminded of the possibility that this one could be the best summer of my life.

"Midnight Rider" -- The Allman Brothers
I have a special place in my heart for this song because it was played very often during my
childhood. Also, I didn't want the Road Trip theme to only be about carefree fun. Frankly, sometimes we get on the road to run away from things and clear our heads.

You can hear Jessica's My Exit show tonight at 8 on 97.7 or at exit977.org.

Here's how to schedule your own My Exit show on WEXT.
