In addition to the wine tasting at the event, 20 Capital Region restaurants will be offer samples of all kinds of foods, including Angelo's Tavolo, New World Bistro Bar, Central Steak, Nicole's and Dutch Desserts. They're also planning a French fashion "red carpet experience," silent auction, music and dancing.

Beaujolais Nouveau is released once a year and it's celebrated all over the world. What do you look forward to every year in the Capital Region?

It could be an event, a food, a season -- just something that happens annually that you enjoy. We'll draw one comment at random.

The event is this Thursday night, November 17. Here's how to get tickets.

Important: All comments must be submitted by 10 am on Wednesday (November 16, 2011) to be entered in the drawing. You must answer the question to be part of the drawing. One entry per person, please. You must enter a valid email address (that you check regularly -- seriously, if you win, we want to give you the tickets) with your comment. The winner will be notified via email by noon on Wednesday and must respond by 9 pm Wednesday (November 16).

Yep, AOA is a media sponsor of this event.

I always look forward to fall in the Capital Region, the fall beers, festivals, and beautiful fall colors!

Every year I look forward to the summer season, spending the long days on my back deck with a glass of wine and my beautiful wife!

After a long, hard winter I look forward to Spring!!!

After a long and hard winter I look forward to the first beautiful day of spring where I can get on my bike or go for a long run, dodging melting snowbanks. With the winters in upstate New York I really feel like I earned it.

I look forward to what my hubby and I call "festival season." For us, it begins on the day of the St. Patrick's Day parade (which is the unofficial beginning of spring for us) and ends with Lark Fest, though there is still plenty of stuff to do in October.

Saratoga Food & Wine fest

Pine Bush Triathlon!

Fall and apple cider donut season!

oddly, i look forward to winter. i like the cold. i like wearing fuzzy pajamas and snuggling under a blanket with my fabulous self.

Apple season! It signals the start to my favorite part of the year in upstate and also means that ski season is right around the corner.

I look forward to the tulips blooming every year. They are my favorite flower, and they just scream spring.

Apple Cider donuts. I was just in the Lehigh Valley (Pennsylvania) over the weekend - the locals had never heard of such a thing! I was dumbstruck.

That first wondrous trip up the Northway to Gore Mountain.

The Victorian Stroll in Downtown Troy!

I am a very corny person...I look forward to holiday shopping at Stuyvesant Plaza, walking outdoors from store to store in brisk weather with a gingerbread latte in my hands from Starbucks and Bing Crosby in my ears. I have traditionally done this with my little sis who is now a Chicago resident...so I'll do it alone this year. Of course there are many other annual treats to enjoy in this area but with Thanksgiving fast approaching this is one I'm dreaming about now.

I look forward to the Christmas light tour in Washington Park

I look forward to Christmas with my family!

Memorial Day weekend -- the true start of summer!

Opening day at Jack's Drive In!

First crocuses in the spring. There is only about 120 days left!

I look forward to Spring..Tulips, warm air, and longer days :-)

I always look forward to the annual Beaujolais Nouveau! To me, it's the official kick-off to the holiday season! It's a great event.

I always look forward to the time of year in early spring when the rhododendrons and azaleas come into bloom followed by the shadblow, the redbud trees and the forsythia. The climate and soil is perfect for these shrubs and trees to absolutely glow each year.

Hm. For winter, specifically, I always look forward to the Santa Speedo race. (Maybe this year I won't finish last.) It is just such a crazy and fun event for such a great purpose.

I look forward to the Troy Turkey Trot!

I look forward to snow days where I can't/won't leave the house.

Apple Cider Donuts!

At this time of year, Honey Crisp apples!

Saratoga's Chowderfest! Such a great way to beat the winter blahs.

The Glens Falls Brewfest at the Queensbury Hotel!

Albany Last Run 5k through Washington Park

Indian Summer. That one last day of summer warmth...which always reminds me of:

Breakfast in cemetery
Boy tastin wild cherry
Touch girl, apple blossom
Just a boy playin possum
We'll come back for Indian Summer
And go our separate ways
What is that cheerful sound?
Rain fallin on the ground
We'll wear a jolly crown
Buckle up, we're wayward bound
We'll come back for Indian Summer
And go our separate ways
Motorbike to cemetery
Picnic on wild berries
French toast with molasses
Croquet and Baked Alaskas
We'll come back for Indian Summer
And go our separate ways
Cover me with rain
Walk me down the lane
I'll drink from your drink
We will never change
No matter what they say

-Luna

in the winter, the santa speedo sprint! in the spring, tulips. in the summer, my birthday. :) in the fall, EVERYTHING!

I look forward to the first warm, sunny day and having a drink on Lark St.!

The Troy Turkey Trot!

I love Tulipfest: the flowers, the music, the craft-ish goods, the (assumed) beautiful Spring weather....

Snowmans to open in the summer

There is nothing better than the gates flying open, the bell going off, the horses charging into the first turn and Tom Durkin leading the crowd in the first "they're off!" of the Saratoga track season. Sure it draws a lot of out of townera but nowhere else in America has the deep tradition we have.

The first day the food vendors invade the Capiol park. Sure it's a minor tradition but for is who traverse the deathly hallows of the empire state plaza concourse every workday between December and April it's a welcome and necessary sign of survival.

I look forward to the Goold Orchard Apple Festival every year. Cider and homemade hot donuts on a crisp, sunny day are the perfect way to ring in Autumn!

I look forward to the Workforce Team Challenge race in May, thousands of people out in the streets and you know summer is right around the corner.

Fall beers on tap everywhere!!

It's a tie between the first cider donuts of the season and lights in the park.

The Turkey Trot!!

I look forward to snowplows blocking my driveway so it takes me an hour longer to get to work every morning!

I look forward to singing a Cantata in a Christmas Choir for the very first time this year!

I always look forward to the Latin Festival in Washington Park every September!

Track Season in Saratoga.

Taking Free School Kids apple picking! Nothing like inner-city kids running around in the leaves picking apples for homemade pies!

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
