The everything-proof house
Over at Places and Spaces, Chris noticed that one of Albany's Lustron homes is for sale. The backstory on these houses is unusual, inflected with mid-century futurism: they're pre-fab enameled-steel structures (yep, you can stick magnets to the walls) originally billed as "the new standard of living." . Jermain Street in Albany is, as a tribute video describes it, "a living Lustron museum." The street has five Lustrons and is on the National Register of Historic Places (map).

I always wondered what the deal was with those little houses on Jermain. AOA to the rescue.

Lustron. Even the name is retro-futurisitic.
