Penzey's at Crossgates now open

The Penzey's Spices store at Crossgates opened Thursday. We called the store today and confirmed -- it's open. The store is in a space on the upper level the lower level near Johnny Rocket's. [via Daniel]

Penzy's used to send me catalogues with coupons for free things. There were no stores here at the time, and i would have had to pay s & h so i threw away the coupon. I called to tell them to open a local store.

Awesome! I'm almost out of saffron and was looking at their site the other day. Thankfully I held off buying it - now I don't have to pay shipping! They have great saffron, by the way. Thanks for letting us know!

Nice!

Here is the inside of the one on Elmwood Ave. in Buffalo: http://flic.kr/p/aQBu3x

We were there Black Friday. Elmwood Ave. in Buffalo is a great place to shop - very "non-mall" and that was perfect for Black Friday.

Cool, now I can pick up that Arizona Dreaming spice mix and try out Christian Noe's latest victory mac & cheese recipe.

The Penzey's in Grand Central shut down last summer, and now there's one in Albany -- sweet.

Really? 'Cause the spot that was blocked off for it last week, with big "coming soon, Penzeys!" decals on it, was downstairs, just down the hall from the Johnny Rockets.

@KB: You're right -- it's the lower level. I called and confirmed. Fixed. Thanks.

(The Crossgates online map has the store listed on upper level. And I must have misheard when calling this morning.)

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
