Chris Kapostasy
A recent Wall Street Journal feature about MSNBC's Chris Jansing -- you know, Chris Kapostasy from WNYT -- included the story of how she was spotted by a network exec vacationing in Lake George: "'I got a message on my answering machine ... It said, 'I'm the assistant to the president of NBC News. He wants to talk to you about a job.' I thought it was a joke." She also mentions how great it was to live in the Capital Region. Here's her quote about Albany: "It's a great place to live—45 minutes to Vermont; 2 ½ hours to New York City. The cost of living was very low."
In other words: It's cheap and it's close to places that are better.
Damning via faint praise...
