Jimmy Miller retiring

Today is Jimmy Miller's last with the Albany Police Department -- he's retiring after 20 years, 13 of those as the APD's spokesman. Miller's probably logged as much (or more) time on local TV newscasts over that time as anyone. Many of the Albany crime stories in local media outlets have originated from his press releases (and, as is often the case, just been re-written versions of those releases). And, of course, last year he became the story when he was arrested for DWI. Miller is apparently considering opening his own PR shop -- or even running for office. The APD's new public information officer is Steven Smith. [TU] [YNN]

Good riddance to bad rubbish. APD Still has not published his booking photo.

Hey, they haven't released the booking photo of that 19 year old from Bethlehem who killed a man on Henry Johnson Blvd., then took off in his car last month, either! Curious. They did manage to plaster the victim's face all over the news, however. Makes sense.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
