New head for Albany Law
Albany Law School announced today that Penelope Andrews will be its next president and dean. She's currently an associate dean at the CUNY School of Law and an expert on human rights law. Interesting: Andrews was born and raised in South Africa, where she was a finalist in 2005 for the country's highest court for interpreting constitutional issues. Here's her vita (pdf). She was a visiting professor at Albany Law in 2002.

Albany Law ranked 3rd worst in the state in the last Bar Exam, and they go get a professor whose specialty is something that isn't even on the exam. Once again another banner move for the same school that fired its entire Admissions department last year.

ALS used to have the reputation for being the law school for those whose main goal was to pass the NYS bar. Now how do they lure students there?
