A large apartment fire in Halfmoon early Sunday morning destroyed 10 units, displacing more than a dozen people. One woman says she probably would have slept through the fire if not for a neighbor who pushed open her unit's door and dragged her family to safety. [WTEN] [Fox23] [WNYT]

You link to a number of articles in the Gazette, but without a membership nobody else can read them. I realize they are an important source of news, but I don't feel you should link to articles behind a pay wall.

I'm definitely agree with Chris V.

Yeah, a paywall won't be nearly as bad if you didn't tease us with headlines from Gazette.

Re: Schenectady Gazette. On the other hand, it is an independent local newspaper, and for, I think, about $27.5/week you can get Fri/Sat/Sun actual paper delivery plus unlimited online. What is it worth to you to support local independent news gathering? Does "Buy Local" stop at produce and crafts?

It's also important to remember that some people do have online subscriptions to the Gazette. I don't, but someone out there probably does, and I'm sure he/she appreciates AOA not ignoring his/her local news site.

How often do we get to see the same gripe regurgitated? I get that it's not always the same people who comment, but jeez.

Local,

If some one in the 518 (or Berkshire County) would make an excellent smart phone, I would be all over the local thing.

For now, I am all for the produce...the crafts, not so much.

And paying for the privilege of reading Carl Strock's antiquated and reactionary opinions is something that you should not ask anyone to do.

Maybe a quick poll would help figure out who has an access to the Gazette paywall? Out of curiosity....

Huh? That's my weekly grocery budget.
I prefer to support our local environment by not buying heaps of paper with useful life of about 30 minutes.

Correction: $2.50/week. I checked.
