Tour of the Battenkill 2012 winner
Competitive Cyclist Racing Team's Francisco Mancebo Perez won the Tour of the Battenkill pro race in Washington County Sunday with a time of 4:55:54 -- two seconds ahead of 2nd and 3rd place finishers Jesse Anthony (Team Optum) and Jeremy Vennell (Bissell PRO Cycling). That's an average speed of a little more than 25 mph -- which might not sound fast, but try riding a bike that fast over a mile, nevermind more than a hundred. Of the 161 cyclists who started the 124-mile course, just 59 finished. (Hey, they don't tout it as "America's toughest one day race" for nothing.) Over at KAB, Andrew's posted a bunch of good photos from the race.

The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Mancebo was one of the top names in pro cycling before serving a doping suspension -- now he has come to the U.S. to race, and is just tearing up the field. Shows the high level of racing that Battenkill is attracting. And that's a crazy fast time over those rolling hills; makes me insanely jealous of what these guys can do.
