ALB survey
Albany International Airpot has posted a survey for area travelers asking about how often people fly, to where, and where they'd like to be able to fly. Apparently airport officials will be using the survey data in discussions with airlines. Reading between the survey lines, it looks ALB is angling for more directs flights (to places such as San Francisco) and new carriers (JetBlue, Frontier, American).

I want a spaceport.
(However, I know that the artist's rendering of the spaceport will not have proper access for bicycles.)

American Airlines is going through bankruptcy restructuring and getting rid of hubs, not adding new ones. So good luck with that.

I'd love a cheap way to get to Portland Oregon but the survey is really aimed at frequent flyer business customers and people who vacation in Florida.

Weird, they listed JFK as one place not having direct service, but I flew through there on the way to LA last month. May you just can't terminate at JFK currently? Odd.

Yes, apparently there are some routes that do not fly direct, even though you may have a layover there. That and the fact that sometimes taking a route with a layover in your destination is cheaper than a direct flight has led to a phenomenon called "hidden-city ticketing", which is essentially getting off the plane at your layover and not using the rest of the ticket.
Obviously airlines are not thrilled when they figure out you're doing this. And you have to be careful -- book two one-way flights instead of round-trip (missing any leg cancels your ticket), and obviously don't check luggage.
Until we live in a world where airfare makes sense...
