Tickets for Champagne on the Park

Champagne on the Park 2012 giveaway composite

A few scenes from last year's event.

Drawing's closed!

The annual Champagne on the Park celebration in Albany's Washington Park is May 10. We have two tickets to give away -- maybe to you.

Because this a classy event, please answer this question in the comments:

What's something classy about the Capital Region?

We'll pick one winner at random.

Champagne on the Park is Thursday, May 10, from 5:30-9 pm. It includes free food, an open bar, a silent auction, music from the Lustre Kings, and dancing -- all set among the tulips beds.

The event is a fundraiser for the Lark Street Business Improvement District, and this year it will be recognizing The Albany Damien Center and the Albany Society of the Advancement of Philanthropy for their work in the community. Tickets are $60 for individuals, $100 for a couple.

Important: All comments must be submitted by noon on Thursday (May 3, 2012) to be entered in the drawing. One entry per person, please. You must enter a valid email address (that you check regularly) with your comment (seriously, we want to give you the tickets). The winner will be notified via email by 5 pm on Thursday and must respond by 5 pm on Friday (May 4, 2012).

Yep, AOA is a media a sponsor of this event.

Albany (to the shock and disbelief of most that do not reside in the state) is the capital city of New York State, quite possibly the greatest state in what arguably could be the greatest nation in the world... I'd say that makes us pretty classtastic.

NYC Ballet and Philadelphia Orchestra at SPAC each summer!

The State Ed building.

Drinking on the stoop

Something classy in the cap region? Maybe Saratoga? That's pretty classy sometimes. But probably only during the day :)

All Over Albany! [Sucking up, sucking up...]

Washington Park with all the tulips

The Brownstones and houses on Willett St. Albany overlooking washington Park.

Saratoga!

Steamed Hams.

(Already have tickets)

Schenectady Symphony Orchestra and Albany Symphony Orchestra performances!

(Yes, I like getting dressed up and going out to hear classical music. Got a problem with that? I'll cut you real good if you got a problem with that. Because that's how classy people deal with their problems.)

A nice glass of wine on the patio at the wine bar makes me feel classy!

The capitol at night !

The wine bar on Lark

The architecture.

Some of the beautiful buildings in downtown. Great architecture in a mix of styles!

The schools.

The new Hannoush Jewelers on Wolf Rd. - Wow!

Well, I once saw a drunk person in Washington Park sitting at a picnic table... peeing onto the concrete slab underneath it. All I'll say is, depending on where you are in life, that *could* seem classy. (Or maybe I just wanted to share that story)

My Spring weekends in Albany! A decadent date with my best friend on the back patio of Wine Bar under the wisteria while bumblebees hum above us, and then moving to the front patio to try to new cocktail and watch a little "Lark St. TV". Or hitting up Crisan for gelato just after brunch with your crew and then meandering for hours through Washington Park with at least three other variations of that cast of characters, before collecting another friend unexpectedly from their stoop and walking to El Mariachi for the most wonderful margarita you've had in awhile. Or, yes: wine while picnicking on a blanket by the tulips. I've never had champagne there (yet!), but that sounds classiest of all!

The Vanguard Showhouse is classy.

Any place with free museums is classy!

The Albany Symphony Orchestra ALWAYS keeps it CLASSY!!

The free ice skating rink at the ESP during the winter is pretty classy.

A martini, expertly made by Kyle, post-work at the bar at Jack's.

Crisan!

Matthew Carefully's beard (to tie it with the beard contest).

Classy in the Capital Region...well, how about the time where you can stay in Downtown Albany on a Friday at 5:00PM and hit up some Happy Hour specials for an hour or two and get on our class CDTA Bus Line and ride out to Saratoga Springs and hit up more happy hour specials at that time. Nothing like drinking and traveling...classy at its best!

The Empire Plaza is what makes Albany classy!!! =)

The Corning Tower makes the Capital Region classy, which is the tallest skyscraper in upstate New York, north of New York City, standing at 589 feet (44 floors). And it is also the tallest building between New York City and Cleveland.

Some of the hotels downtown (Crown Plaza) are rather classy.

I feel very classy when I spend a day shopping at Stuyvesant Plaza.

The stellar, hardworking people that make amazing things happen here in our little part of the world.

The comment boards on All Over Albany! A small but mighty group of folks with the best ideas and quips.

The architecture just oozes old world class.

The Center Square Neighborhood. Whenever I ride my bike through their I have an urge to put my pinky up. Very Classy.

Steak and wine at McGuire's on Lark. Old school class. Feels like the Rat Pack should be hanging out there.

Mrs. and Max Londons are both quite classy!

The brownstones on Willet St. adjacent to the Park.

The word classy always sounds decidedly unclassy doesn't it? Dinner and drinks on the patio at the wine bar is pretty, ahem, sophisticated and breakfast at the track in the summer.

Being a self proclaimed foodie, I've recently gotten into a lot of the cooking and recipes I've seen from Food Network. So many of their shows focus on fresh, local, and flavorful.

The classiest thing that I've discovered about Albany, is that it's quickly becoming the benchmark of fresh, local, flavorful food. From the farmer's markets to the Fresh Market, from Adventure in Food to Penzy's, whether it's a restaurant or small local eatery; when Albany does fresh, local, and flavorful, Albany does it right.

Isn't that John Cirrin in that photo above??

Classy... Jack's Oyster House... the best food in the best atmosphere for miles around!!

The wife and I when we dress up nicely to go out to this event if we win tickets. thanks =)

Wine Bar on Lark!

Chestnut, Willet and State from Swan to the Park. My favorite lunchtime walk. Very Classy!

Art, architecture, and attractions!

Ballet at SPAC is really classy! :)

The Wine Bar and Bistro in Albany. Such a classy and cozy place :)

Cold wine and white flowers on one of the outdoor patios of Lark Street at dusk, as the sky darkens.

The track is down right classy, hats and all.

Albany's Dutch heritage and the tulips in the park make Albany classy! Not to mention, events like this.

We The Groovy People! Class-ic!

empire plaza at night

Nothing could be classier than the EGG!

A proper Dry Martini at Jack's made with Tanqueray and a dash of orange bitters, STIRRED, served up, and topped with a spray of lemon zest (no garnish).

conversation on a patio, in spring or summer evenings; perhaps a drink in hand.

I think the Plaza is pretty classy. I know that many people find it ugly and there are a lot of social issues surrounding it, but I've been fascinated by it since I first moved here in 2004. Maybe it's all of the marble. I think it's so classy, I had Amy Hedges do my engagement photo shoot there...in the dead of winter...when it was about 20 degrees out.

Capital Region Salsa Socials!!

The Capitol, the Ginger Man, New World Bistro, Jack's, the Fort Orange Club, the orchestra at SPAC, the Santa Speedo Sprint, and enjoying a summer night out with a cool drink.

Saratoga Polo. Both sides of the field.

Proctor's theater!

our THREE awesome modern dance companies: Nacre, Ellen Sinopoli, and Maude Baum & Co.

The Capital Region is classy, from the waterfront cities, to the posh Saratoga Downtown. From the early 1900's architecture to the new fancy Nanotech & Chip Fab.

troy savings bank music hall!

The Egg is very classy, as well as Proctor's and Capital Rep.

Downtown Saratoga.

Dog parks!

Where else can you go to walk your dog in the morning, bet the horses in the afternoon, see an old movie and then have your pick of great places to eat and have a drink... it's classy all over the place.

The Lark Street neighborhoods.

New World Bistro

being fairly new to the area...I'd have to say the Egg and its Empire State Plaza. never seen anything like it, especially when they can do it up for summer... and even make it an ice rink in the winter!

A delicious dinner at 677 Prime followed by the Albany Symphony Orchestra, and capping the night with a glass of wine at the Brown Derby.
A class-tastic evening indeed.

A delicious dinner at 677 Prime, followed by the Albany Symphony Orchestra, and capping off the night with a glass of wine at the ever classy, old Hollywood-esque Brown Derby.
A class-tastic evening indeed!!

I think the dining options. I love that I can eat a delicious and fancy feeling dinner without blowing my budget. Because everyone deserves to feel fancy! Like new world bistro or the lark street wine bar.

The thungs that make Albany classy is the mix if old and new
Look around at the architecture of the old bulidings mixed in with the modern. Look at the been around forever reastrants mixed with the exciting new ones. Lets not forget all the great things to do around town. Concerts, ballet, plays to just taking a walk along the river to get away from the hustle and bustle. Albany, one classy lady!

I would say dinner at Cafe Capriccio on a summer evening. Nothing beats strolling down cobblestone streets to enjoy some of the finest dining in the city.

I know the contest is closed, event is over.
Are you going to show photos of the event?
I want to see them, thanks

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
