Comparing prices, locals
A few bits of follow up to yesterday's episode of "Whole Foods, Holy Moly": A Boston Globe comparison of a small basket of items concluded that Whole Foods wasn't the most expensive option. And the Bergen County Record looked at what "local" means for ShopRite, Whole Foods, and BJ's. (Thanks, Naomi!)

It's such a cheap shot when people kvetch about Whole Foods being expensive because it means they haven't shopped there enough to really know about exactly what this article describes. Particularly the WF brand, 365, has great prices. Sure, you certainly can get very expensive specialty items and prepared foods. But they do have sales, and that is always sweet.
