Excelsior College's commencement speaker this year will be economist advisor/commentator/former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich. You might be thinking: "Wait, isn't Excelsior College largely a distance learning school?" Correct. Reich and "hundreds" of the college's graduates will be at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center July 13 -- the ceremony will be webcast so distance learning graduates around the world can watch. The school says commencement is the first time many grads ever see each other, or faculty, face to face.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
