For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.

One of my two plants opened up about two weeks ago. Flowered and gone. The other one is set to open up any minute now. :-)

I've heard that scientists at GE re studying why rain beads up on the leaves and petals of some plants. They are interested in using the plant secretions in an anti-icing application for surfaces on airplane wings, wind turbine blades, and other places where ice is detrimental/dangerous.
