Gillian Welch at The Egg

gillian welchGillian Welch is playing a show at The Egg July 13. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday (June 1) -- they're $34.50.

Welch is a big part of the modern Americana/bluegrass/alt-country scene. She frequently records and performs with David Rawlings -- they also have their own boutique record label. But Welch has also collaborated with a bunch of acts, including Alison Krauss, Ryan Adams, Emmylou Harris, The Decemberists, and Ani DiFranco.

Alt-country (or whatever you want to call it) concerts seem to have done well at The Egg recently. The Conor Oberst show July 25 is already sold out. If you're thinking about catching Welch's show, you might want to get a ticket earlier rather than later.

She's wonderful. Thanks for the heads-up. I will totally be there. Anyone want to be my date?

Try to get a ticket... they are only selling to Egg members. WTF?

@Barold: The Egg usually has a pre-sale window for members that lasts about a week. The tickets will be open to everyone starting this Friday, June 1.

Thanks Greg.
