New brew pub opening in Saratoga

druthers brewing front gateDruthers -- the new brew pub on Broadway in downtown Saratoga -- announced this afternoon that its grand opening will be next Wednesday (August 1). Here's a peek at the menu (confit wings, hmmm...) and a look at the restaurant's courtyard (those are both from the Twitter stream of Druthers' chef -- you might find an inside scoop or two there). Druthers has been in the works for a while -- it's reportedly a $2.4 million project and the ownership group includes George de Piro, who you might know from the Pump Station. I recall a local brewery (Van Dyck) that spent over 2 million to open during what was considered a good economy and it fell behind rather quickly. If that opening cost is accurate Druthers is going to need to generate sales comparable to Saratoga's highest grossing restaurants. Plus accomplish that with beer and burgers. I'm curious which restaurants in Saratoga are going to lose millions in sales as well as the net effect of that reduction.

George makes the best beer in this area, if not far beyond this region - I wish him all the best - and think it will be a popular place to be indeed!

The Scoop
