X-rays, the cello, Star Trek
After talking with a group of young women about careers in math and science, Susanne Lee -- a physicist at GE's Global Research Center in Niskayuna -- posted an interesting piece this week about her path to becoming a scientist. Lee says she'd been told she might be "happier" pursuing a career in which she was "not so much in the minority." But she argues the things that make her different have been key to her success as a scientist. (Her post also gives a glimpse at the sorts of things the researchers do at the GRC.) [Edison's Desk]

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
