Suspicious fires in Cohoes

From the city of Cohoes: "There continues to be the onset of small fires in the downtown neighborhood areas that have been determined to be suspicious in nature. The majority of these fires have occurred in the late evening/early morning hours and is of great concern to the Cohoes Police and Fire Departments." The city says no one's been harmed, but the fires don't appear to be isolated. Police are investigating and the city's asking people to keep an eye out. More details post jump.

SUSPICIOUS FIRES IN DOWNTOWN NEIGHBORHOODS
There continues to be the onset of small fires in the downtown neighborhood areas that have been determined to be suspicious in nature. The majority of these fires have occurred in the late evening/early morning hours and is of great concern to the Cohoes Police and Fire Departments. Although these small fires have been extinguished by the Cohoes Fire Department with no physical harm to anyone, there is a strong concern that these occurrences are not isolated. Please keep in mind the following tips as the Cohoes Police Department continues to investigate these incidences.
+ If there is an emergency, call 911 immediately.
+ If you see anything or anyone suspicious, either in front of your dwelling or behind your dwelling, please do not approach the individual but instead call 911.
+ Police continue to work undercover as part of this ongoing investigation and will be approaching residents to gather information or follow-up leads. When interacting with the police please remember that it is customary that officers of the city show identification when meeting with residents. Be alert to those who may be posing as city officials.
+ Protect your property to the best of your ability. It is often suggested that the installation of motion detected outdoor lighting as well as video surveillance can help deter potential trespassers and/or identify individuals who may be in the area.
On behalf of the Cohoes Police and Fire Departments, thank you, for taking this matter seriously and we appreciate your patience and participation as we continue to investigate these suspicious events.
