Running at Saratoga

What's it like to run at the Saratoga Race Course -- like, what is like to actually run the same track as the horses? The Daily Gazette's Mike MacAdam found out: "On Tuesday, I ran a mile and a quarter on Saratoga's mile-and-an-eighth main track, re-creating the distance used for the Travers and the Alabama, which Questing won in a romp 11 days ago. It seemed like a fun idea when I thought of it last week. That was last week."

Holy Spaghetti Monster AOA, did you just find a way to bypass the Daily Gazette paywall?! It's so simple I'm shocked. Seems to work on old articles too.

In other news, The Daily Gazette of Schenectady, NY, announced today it is discontinuing the paywall for its online publication dailygazette.com. The publisher was quoted as saying "We tried the paywall approach for some time, but we recently discovered that non-subscribers have been accessing articles by simply clicking on the "Print" button and by-passing the HTML version. Apparently, it's really that simple. We'll re-consider our decision as advances are made in technology that will produce better outcomes for the paywall revenue approach."

This would have been much more entertaining if there were horses on the track during his trot.

@Rob: or somebody riding Mike MacAdam.

The Scoop

For a decade All Over Albany was a place for interested and interesting people in New York's Capital Region. It was kind of like having a smart, savvy friend who could help you find out what's up. AOA stopped publishing at the end of 2018.
