Kamikaze Hearts, considered

the kamikaze heartsHow about this: How about this: The Kamikaze Hearts are featured on this week's episode of the NPR show All Songs Considered. The topic of the ep is "The Most Important Band Of Your College Years." And host Bob Boilen mentions that friend Hannah Carlin Carlen* said she couldn't get together this weekend because... "Because I'm going to see the Kamikaze Hearts, the most important band of my college life." She continues:

The Kamikaze Hearts are a band from around Albany, Saratoga Springs, the Capital Region. The music is beautiful... lyrical, tons of just, mandolin and banjo, and smart lyrics, stuff that you can just get so deep with. ... I was working at a college radio station at the time, I was the music director there, and they were just the compass by which we did everything. By which we saw shows, or figured out about new bands, or figured out the local scene there, or what having a local scene meant. It was a constant soundtrack to my college radio station, which in turn was the soundtrack to every minutes I spent in college at all.

As you know, the show Hannah was referring to is this Friday, the opening night of the Restoration Festival -- the Kamikaze Hearts are one of the headliners.

*We're guessing at the spelling of her name. We bet someone will know it and correct it shortly. Update: It took 41 minutes. Thanks, Kara.

Yep, AOA is a Rest Fest media sponsor.

i happend to listen to this episode this morning, i was pleasantly surprised to hear the kamikaze hearts featured but was hoping that rest fest would end up getting a small plug as it will also feature one of npr's own favorites: sharon van etten. no such luck!
