Electronics recycling day
There's a free electronics recycling drop-off at the Saratoga Technology + Energy Park in Malta this Saturday (map). From a NYSERDA press release: "Accepted items include computers, laptops, TVs, monitors, scanners, printers, keyboards and mice, circuit boards, cables or wiring, typewriters, gaming boxes, cell phones and all other electronic equipment. All hard drives will be destroyed." This kind of stuff shouldn't go in the regular trash because it often includes toxics such as lead or mercury. The drop-off is from 10 am to 2 pm. Say Something!
We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.

While I haven't tried it yet myself, but intend to..
I just spotted on Best Buy's website that they will take your electronic junk FOR FREE. I believe this was a result of legislation demanding that those who sell the junk also provide a means to recycle the junk. Had to mention that since it's election season. A little government oversight can make sense every once in awhile.

I've always wanted a cabinet TV like that to convert into a fish tank.

RCR&R is not even a local company. They take all this equipment to Rochester. They employee people there and put money into that economy. There are other local companies that take this stuff every day. Try elot in Troy or Tech Valley Recycling right in Clifton Park. Do the right think use local companies even if Hudson Valley, the round lake library and nyserda won't.
