Drawing: Wild Game Dinner at City Beer Hall

city beer hall exterior

Update: Drawing's closed! Winner's been emailed!

The City Beer Hall has another wild game dinner coming up next week (September 20) -- four wild game courses paired with four beers from Southern Tier Brewing Company. (The menu is after the jump.)

We have a pair of tickets to the dinner and we're giving them away -- maybe to you.

To enter the drawing, please answer this question in the comments:

The leaves will be changing soon -- what's your favorite place to take in the fall foliage?

We'll pick one person at random. That person will get the pair of tickets to the dinner.

If you're not the lucky winner, tickets are $60 each (you can buy them online). The dinner starts at 6 pm.

Important: All entries must be submitted by noon on Thursday (September 13, 2012) to be entered in the drawing. You must answer the question to be entered in the drawing. One entry per person, please. You must enter a valid email address (that you check regularly) with your comment. If you want to partake of the beer, you have to be over 21 and bring ID (you knew that). The winner will be notified via email by 5 pm on Thursday and must respond by noon on Friday (September 14, 2012).

Here's the menu...

(links added)

Pumpkin and plantain mofongo with wild boar and garlic pecan sauce
Southern Tier cask-conditioned Pumking - Imperial pumpkin ale (8.6%)

Seared ostrich with beet greens, barley and lentil salad
Southern Tier Iniquity - Imperial black ale (9.0%)

The Berkshires!

On the top of Mt. Marcy at sunrise followed up with an Ubu Ale lunch

I love long drives... anywhere. Doesn't matter which direction as long as the leaves are changing.

Indian Ladder Farms

New Paltz's Shawangunk Mountains!

Indian Ladder Farms has always been my go-to spot.

Bennington and Pownal VT are both quaint little towns to drive around and take in the foliage!

I agree with Lola, long Fall drives are really the BEST!

Kaaterskill Falls!

Grafton Lakes State Park

Whitewater rafting down North Creek on a warm fall day... Perfect.

I run every Saturday morning along the Mohawk River and Iove seeing the progressions of autumn there week by week!

Driving across the Hudson River on I-90

Lake Placid!!!!

Rt. 2, heading east towards Williamstown is the one that I show friends from out of town who want to see the leaves, but my favorite, by far, is Jackson's Gardens on Union College's campus. My son and I have walked through the grounds, and crossed the brook that bounds, kicking through leaves and not realizing that this is in a city, let alone a city like Schenectady which does not have beautiful things...I know that saying someplace is magical is trite, but...it is the place where I feel most at peace.

Thacher Park's Indian Ladder Trail! Love hiking up there every fall. Its like tradition!

I'm going with Indian Ladder Farms as well . . .

Oakwood Cemetary

The drive out through the Heldebergs.

Autumnal panorama atop Mt. Greylock.

Locally, Thatcher Park. But my favorite place I've seen the fall foliage from was a few years back from a seaplane in Long Lake in the Adirondacks.

My favorite place to take in the foliage is on a run. I see everything in a much more detailed way than when I'm driving!

Gotta go with the Battenkill/Cambridge valley

Camping in the Adirondacks!...or driving west on I-88.

Hiking in the Adirondacks.

walking around center square where the trees crowd the narrow streets and you can take in more than just the scenery, but the smells and crisp air as well.

Buckingham Pond in the BuckPo neighborhood of Albany

Route 2 over Petersburgh Pass

the peak of Slide Mt in the Catskills on Columbus day weekend is awesome.

Saratoga Battlefield.

Sullivan County. The rides along Rt 209 show all the leaves changing.

Hiking in the Adirondacks...the view on top of Black Mountain is quite beautiful especially during fall foliage season.

Hiking in the Adirondacks

Hiking the Plotterkill Reserve!

Indian Ladder Farms

Driving up the Northway with an intent to explore and get lost.

Hiking in the Adirondacks and we usually take a ride out to Manchester, VT once every fall...love it!

Vermont (southern/western/Central)!

since it is before Ski Season, you can get some great deals on lodging! and there is the Vermont Brewery Passport Program to fill in the gaps and meals between the drive to different locations!

Cheers All

Rondout Valley & Shawangunk Ridge!

Thatcher Park, the Indian Ladder Trail

Lake George :-)

Buck Mountain up in Lake George. So beautiful.

The backyard of Brewery Ommegang. If you head out around the time the Waffles and Puppets event is occurring (early October) the "ridge" behind the brewery lights up in every Autumnal color you could think of.

And it's pretty great taking that in with a growler of fresh Rare Vos or Hennepin.

Any place in the beautiful Hudson Valley, to be sure. With a nice view of the Catskill Mountains, how can you go wrong? My favorite is on a boat taking a nice little fall cruise down the Hudson River with a Southern Tier Pumpking in hand!

Buckingham Pond across the street from my home.

Rt. 147 on the way to the Great Sacandaga Lake.

From our living room overlooking the valleys of Schoharie!

On top of Mt. Rafinesque in Brunswick, look it up!

Normanskill Farm.

Olana!!!!!

The green mountains

I'm going to stick close to home and say the good ole Washington Park.

White Face Mountain. The view is just awesome

Zoar Valley on the Cattaraugus Creek.

On the amtrak from NYC to Albany, with a view of the Hudson and the colors

in the Adirondacks!

on the morning commute... noticing daily changes gives me something to do beyond just driving

Thatcher Park!

The backroads of Stuyvesant, or on 66 between ghent and chatham. gorgeous. :)

While hiking up one of the high peaks!

Route 2 from NY to Mass, up and over Petersburg Pass

In my own backyard :)

Sounds silly and lame, but I love the view when I come over the Menands bridge. For a moment, I can look at the river, look at the vibrant hills, and totally understand why there was a Hudson River school of painting.

Anywhere where there's fall it's beautiful!

Lower Adirondacks, near Caroga Lake, Nine Corner Lake, or in Schenectady area at Plotterkill preserve are my favorites this time of year.

I can't believe I'm going to say it, but the greater Binghamton area. Not sure why it is, maybe some weird combination of latitude, elevation, and topography, but it seems like every species of tree there is at it's brightest at the exact same time. Then there's just all the broad rolling hills, and it ends up looking like someone draped them with tie-dyed curtains.

I got some nice pictures at Moreau Lake State Park a couple of years ago - maybe a good excuse to go back up there!

Anywhere along the Taconic Crest Trail is just fantastic during the Fall.

Camp Dippikill in the adirondacks (Near Warrensburg) There is a lake/pond, paths/trails, and quiet. Pure, dark, simple, quiet. Also, there's the daytime ;) That's quiet, warm, bright, and simple. =D

Alternately, on the seat of my Vespa, on a cool, crisp, autumn day. :)

washington park

bash bish falls in copake ny! plus the drive east on 90 is beautiful!

Blue Ridge Parkway in western NC with a picnic BBQ lunch

From the drunk-filled streets of Lark Fest. Lots of eye-popping characters that really complement the changing leaves.

Duanesburg

At the Grafton Peace Pagoda. There are trails around the pagoda and the leaves around there are pretty amazing.

Autumn color makes a drive to Boston much more worthwhile. So I say I-90/Mass Pike FTW.

Anywhere....works for me. Its beautiful everywhere when the leaves are at their peak.

It's always fun to drive through Vermont in the fall

Stephentown, NY, the only Stephentown on earth!

Kayaking on Hoosick River

Hudson.

I love the drive to Indian Ladder. So pretty.

Thatcher Park!

Southern VT

Gore Mountain, The Hudson River, Washington County...
There are too many good choices to pick just one.

Love driving to Manchester in Vermont. Visit local shops, great scenic view along the way.

from the top of Gore Mountain.

Thatcher Park or on a boat on Lake George!

Indian Ladder Farms!!

I am giong to have to agree with those who said the Gunks. I love that place all year, but it offers some spectacular Hudson Valley views this time of year. If I were going to be more specific, I love the trail that summits MIlbrook Mt and connects to Gertrude's Nose. You get to be all happy in the woods for a half of it and get amazing views the other half. Doesn't get much better than that.

Mr. Ski and I take long drives in Washington County when visiting his parents.

Every fall I travel up and down the thruway between Albany and NYC every couple weeks or so, and it feels like a different drive every time. Maybe it's not the most beautiful - but I love the visual progression of the season represented.

Thatcher park for sure!!

Riding Amtrak down the Hudson at 6am, watching the sun rise, hit the hills and cliffs to the west, and it looks like the leaves and trees are ablaze.

Thacher Park!

Absolutely thatcher park - you can see Indian Ladder from there!

Hiking in Plotterkill

Vermont!

Top of Whiteface

The Peace Pagoda in Grafton!

Hog Back Mountain in Vermont

Harriman State Park is a pretty sweet spot for driving and watching the leaves change. My favorite place.

The Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway in my home state of Virginia!

Helderberg Escarpment - preferably with a thermos full of hot coffee and a bag/ belly full of Indian Ladder Farms cider donuts :)

Saratoga & North Creek Railway.

Vroman's Nose in Middleburgh

Pretty much just take a drive north on I 87!

With these gas prices, Thacher Park!

Outlook Mountain, in Woodstock !

I got to a lot of different places. Lee area is nice and you can hit up the outlets there. There are a lot of nice areas in the Putney Vermont area. You can go to Berne/Knox/Westerlo area to see a lot of trees.

"the swift red fox jumped over the lazy brown dog."
