"So what the hell went wrong?"

Writing over at Capital, Jimmy Vielkind looks at how Roy McDonald ended up probably not winning the Republican primary against Kathy Marchione -- sure, some of it was backlash to McDonald's vote for the Marriage Equality Act, but another possible reason: Marchione ran a better campaign. McDonald's campaign manager tells the Post-Star McDonald will continue his run on the Independence line if he doesn't win the primary.

Comments

If McDonald loses the Republican primary to Marchione, an already-interesting race may get even more interesting.

So, the race is shaping up to be:

Tolerant Incumbent on a minor party line
vs.
Lesbian Democrat
vs.
Gay-Hating Republican

This one's gonna get feisty.

Roy acquieced to the Gov. and under estimated Ms. Kathy.
and btw Slacker: I wouldn't call Kathy Gay-hating. Just saying.

So by that rationale, if all of the billions of people throughout human history who have thought marriage is the union of one man with one woman are "gay-hating"... does that mean the people who disagree with traditional marriage are "straight-hating?"
