+ The Mop and Bucket Improv Company -- where making stuff up isn't lying, it's a gift for fiction. Every Friday at 8pm Underground at Proctors. Shows are based on audience suggestions, so every week there's something fresh and fun.

Troy Savings Bank Music Hall presents the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band on Thursday, September 27th and NPR's From The Top with Christopher O'Riley on October 5th.

+ The Hellions of Troy have a charity bout this Saturday night at Rollerama. Free admission but donations are being accepted at the door to help fight reproductive organ cancers.

+ The Albany All Stars start their new roller derby season on January 19th.

+ The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night Walk at Siena College on September 29th. Walk to help fight blood cancer.

Food and Drink

+ The Wine Bar and Bistro on Lark has a new fall menu with yumminess like grilled short ribs au poivre with balsamic and mushroom confit and mussels in lobster broth with white wine and applewood bacon. Late summer is a great time for dinner under the wisteria on the patio. The Albany Gastropub is serving Sunday brunch and has live acoustic music every Friday night.

+ The Schenectady Greenmarket. Sundays from 10am to 2pm around City Hall in Schenectady.

+New World Bistro Bar -- launching its new fall menu on September 26th. You can get a preview on their Facebook page or at the blog at their newly designed website. They're also offering brunch with huevos rancheros, Mediterranean omelettes, potato latkes, house-made salmon pastrami, their famous corned beef hash and more. Fresh Fruit Mimosa's and truly spicy Bloody Marys available after noon.

+ The folks at City Beer Hall are now doing Saturday and Sunday brunch starting at 11AM.

+ Delmar Farmers Market runs Saturdays, June through December 9AM-1PM, at the Bethlehem Middle School. Great food and friends. It's all there.

+ Our Daily Eats -- serving up fresh basil pesto, roasted nuts and seeds. They also have four granolas. Available at the Delmar Farmers Market, Schenectady Greenmarket and the Empire State Plaza Wednesday Farmers Market. Local retailers are listed on their website.

+ Capital Wine on State and Lark in Albany. They've got tastings every Friday night, so stop by on your way out to dinner. And they've got great tips on wine and food pairings.

+ Honest Weight Food Coop is gearing up for the annual Local Harvest Festival, September 23rd in Albany's Washington Park from 1pm-4pm. More than 45 local food vendors and restaurants plus a terrific music line up.

+ Albany Law SchoolJournal of Science & Technology will host its fall symposium "From the Page to the Pill: Women's Reproductive Rights and the Law" on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the law school.
