Duck tags

green duck tag just off western ave

Quack.

We can across another duck tag today in Albany. This one was in (what seemed to us) an unlikely place: on Homestead Street, half a block off Western Ave, near a store's driveway (across from University Plaza).

Once you've noticed them, you'll see them everywhere. Also out there: bunny tags. Really. There's a pic after the jump.

The TU's Mark McGuire looked into these tags this past summer and didn't come up with anything.

We're still curious what the story is. Maybe there is no story -- maybe it's just about... ducks and bunnies. Or maybe it's rival gangs -- the kind who like to cuddle

We spotted this bunny tag at New Scotland Ave and Glenwood Street back in June.

not so unusual to see them around there. I walk the pooch in and around the upper Western/Harriman Campus 'hood and see these ducks. I've called the Albany Graffiti Patrol to come clean up other things, but these seem somewhat benign and not entirely unpleasant. They make me chuckle. (hope I didn't just give a shout out to a gang...)

reminds me of the mysterious red goats in uptown Kingston, NY that appeared about a year ago. I like em'...

The one on homestead has been there for some time.

Western and Clarendon. Western and Magazine. I see them all over my neighborhood when walking the dogs.

They are all over Western Ave in Guilderland as well. I assumed it was a college student. I haven't seen any downtown or around center square.

I like the ducks as long as they don't get out of control. I still think it looks more like a goose than a duck to me though. Let the Duck, Duck, Goose puns commence...

My kids love to look for those ducks and the occasional rabbit. They have asked if these critters mean anything and I told them they're just for fun and to bring a little smile to people. Now watch, it will come out that they're symbols for some weird cult...

I don't think that one type of graffiti should be condoned over another, just because you think this type of graffiti is cute.

Rabbit Season... Duck Season... It's a Looney Toons conspiracy.

Might be from The LateShift.... one of their logos is a duck identical to this facebook.com/wearethelateshift

@Ron: I agree, but yet I don't call the Graffitti Police on the ducks. I'll admit my moral compass is a little wiggly on this one.

There is a nice degraded/drippy duck on a dumpster behind The Fountain on New Scotland, and a fresher example outside of Academy Station, a distance down the road.

i saw a duck at crossgates

looks like a beginner just starting out with a crude stencil

a new graffiti meme has emerged: sperm. They're all over the bridge that crosses over the Thurway on Western ave between Schoolhouse Road and Church Road.

I'm assuming they were made by UAlbany hipsters.

A little too political for my tastes.

I'm waiting for Moose & Squirrel uprising.

This kind of story is why I love you All Over Albany!

i see them all over the city and i thought it's some construction sign , then I saw a woman with same duck on her t-shirt! What is it?

Say Something!

We'd really like you to take part in the conversation here at All Over Albany. But we do have a few rules here. Don't worry, they're easy. The first: be kind. The second: treat everyone else with the same respect you'd like to see in return. Cool? Great, post away. Comments are moderated so it might take a little while for your comment to show up. Thanks for being patient.
